Wow, I am blown away! You've done all sorts of stuff with the wiki, and I'm liking all of it. Thanks!

Great job on the Wiki Ollj! Feel free to drop in at the forum if you need specific info. -Henk

Having "new" ;) users dive right in like this helps keep me motivated. Hears to a long while of constructive action. --Numsgil 21:35, 24 Dec 2005 (MST)

Very nice work. Makes me want to work on it again. I was personally feeling bogged by the seemingly endless task.

You have my thanks.

In response to your question, about End; yes, it is on the way out. I'm of the opinion that requiring it has been more of a pain than anything else. Its absense is the cause for numerous stupid errors I've had with DB. No real reason to add it other than those you mentioned.

I like your point about inc/dec they are alot more advanced than the other commands they got grouped with.

On One:

My opinion is that future battles need to be complexity or charecteristic based rather than size. What is the point of defining some of the leagues by genenum when bots only need one? It's certainly nice we can have this level of complexity, now we just have to figure out how to adapt to it. --Endychat 23:30, 24 Dec 2005 (MST)

Binary question

Okay, since you seem to understand bitwise functions way better than I do. How can they be used to store multiple bits of information into one variable? I've been trying to find some way to manage information processing better in DB and my brain is wasted from trying to figure out the answer. If some sort of basic data structure storage and retrieval were possible then bots could be made to really rock. My brain just freezes up when I see the word binary ;) --Endychat 00:18, 25 Dec 2005 (MST)

I never ever used binary functions in any code I wrote for similar reasons. Someone should code a gene that works like a function that reads and writes a variable using binary functions. (and see it evolve) or just add sysvars that read or write binary--Ollj 07:02, 30 Dec 2005 (MST)

That {{{[[]]}}} on the pages, how does it work? It looks handy for use when pages have the same approximate layout but different titles/values required. Like up/dn/sx/dx for example.

Help:Templates
"{{templatename}}" (case sensetive) includes a template, templates are like simple functions that add/include html-wiki-text, usefull for repetitive stuff like categorizing articles you want to have reviewed or deleted...
You can also add variables like "{{templatename|varname=var|varname2=var2}}" or {{templatename|var|var2|varn}}" to that function/template. In the template then "{{{varname}}} or {{{1}}}" gets replaced by the "var" given in the template call of any article that includes that template to itself, it can contain ANY html and wiki code and add any wiki code around it, usefull for building tables...
Note that templates take up namespace and traffic like all articles.
for a simple example "edit" .up. and scroll down to the list of used templates.
You can also include templates into templates and transport variables trough them untill they turn into wiki text: "{{{templatename|var=[[{{{aWikiLinkAdded}}}]]|varname={{varGivenInWhateverIncludesThisTermplate}}}}}" for example adds a variable, converted in to a wiki link to, the template "templatename" and carries another variable forward. --Ollj 07:02, 30 Dec 2005 (MST)

Alot of our sysvars are like that one opposite of the other.--Endychat 15:23, 26 Dec 2005 (MST)

Damn evolution doesnt stop on wikis. --Ollj 07:02, 30 Dec 2005 (MST)

Thanks for the info, I didn't realize you could set up templates like that.

I'll see about checking over how the binary stuff works and maybe making some genes. I'm sure it'd be useful for evolution, I'd just like to understand what I'm coding.--Endychat 20:21, 30 Dec 2005 (MST)

sysvars2.21

re: Sysvars2.21 01:32, 31 Jan 2006 Ollj m (less scrolling)

i had put it in that form so that it could be copied
directly and saved as 2.21.txt ...
not so much as an info page.
but ... there is a link for the download anyway so whatever ...
hey ... thanks for all the work you do here. great stuff.

if you want some help redirecting the 'numbers' on the Sysvars2.21
to the operators ... ie ... 330 ... let me know. Looks like a lot of
work, and i wonder why you didn't link directly to the operator?
but then i thought ... having the addresses link to them sure might come in
handy as well. Just don't want to step on your toes anywhere ... but sure can
help you with some of the 'grunt work' if you need a hand ... like this redirect
stuff, leaving you free to work on the operator pages.
but hey, looks like you must enjoy it to put so much effort into the project. ;)
so whatever.
thanks again. Griztalk 09:25, 31 Jan 2006 (MST)

hmmmmm ....
do you intend to change these pages, for example on Tie ...
tie, stifftie, numties ... to ... .tie, .stifftie, .numties etc ...
with the 'dot', the actual operator?
seems like we have both conventions at present, or i should say, some of each.
iow, should 330 redirect to Tie, or .tie??? Griztalk 09:45, 31 Jan 2006 (MST)

Ah the whole "Tie" part hat dots missing in the links.
Numbers should redirect to their Sysvar. (Logically Sysvars should redirect to their numbers but I prefer sysvars as article titles.)
I intend to change the articles that explain one sysvar to a name with a dot if i find any. Tie is an overview folder to browse trough all sysvars about ties, including .tie. Generally Tie sums up what tie-sysvars are for in a quick overview and .tie gives more detailed syntax examples for that one sysvar. Generally the overview name is not the name of one sysar it includes.
Tie and .tie include the template Template:Tie that shows the overview. Sysvars shows all overview templates. --Ollj 10:48, 31 Jan 2006 (MST)

todo:

  1. If a number has a sysvar make an article for that number that redirects to that sysvar.
  2. If a sysvar article is missing make a describing article about what this sysvar does. Some documentation is hidden too much.

ok ... i can to the redirects to that sysvar ...
but seeing as i have no idea what they do, i leave the describing articles to you. ;)
did up thru 400 ... will continue later on tonight, if you haven't done so. Griztalk 11:48, 31 Jan 2006 (MST)

sysop

made you a Sysop, so you can now delete those pages rather than set the Delete Template. Griztalk

Griz is a mind reader. I was just talking to PY about doing the same. :) Congrats!--Endychat 14:50, 1 Feb 2006 (MST)
